Thoughts:
Anyone can become a real estate investor. I come from a background as a teacher, coach, and bartender. I read the book: Rich Dad Poor Dad, and it changed my perspective on money and real estate. I changed my career path because of this perspective. I've been blessed by real estate, and want others to have the same experience. The easiest way I know to get started in real estate is getting involved in a house hack, or small multifamily rentals (2-4 units)
Two great aspects about duplexes and small multifamily:
1. You can stay in this space your whole investing career
OR
2. You can use it to gain skills and experience, then graduate into larger units, or different real estate products
